The 10th annual Suffolk C.A.R.E. Fair, a free one-stop fun, health and education fair for children and their families, will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Mack Benn, Jr. Elementary School.

The &uot;C.A.R.E.&uot; in C.A.R.E. Fair stands for Children’s Assistance & Resource Event, and some of the help comes from free and convenient back-to-school services. These include school registration, school entrance physicals, and state required immunizations.

C.A.R.E. Fair also offers free health screenings, and access to over 30 human services agencies. Information will be available on childcare, safety, nutrition, fitness, and support and opportunities for low-income families.

C.A.R.E. Fair is also fun and will include dozens of free games and activities including a petting zoo, clowns and other costumed characters, pony rides, children’s books, fire truck and ladder demonstration, police cars and ambulances, Ident-a-Kid, face painting, inflatable bouncies, and &uot;CARE Packages&uot; for the Kids. There will also be a free National KidsDay picnic, along with popcorn, lemonade, and snowcones. Get there early; food will be available while supplies last.

The event is intended for children up to 12 years old and their families. This year’s theme is &uot;Nurturing for the Future.&uot;

Hands-on educational sessions will include Poison Control; &uot;Masters of Disaster&uot;, a fire safety program; and the two-part &uot;Eat Smart, Play Hard, which will feature &uot;Make My Body Happy&uot; exercise program and &uot;Fantastic Fuel&uot; nutrition demonstration.

Many activities will be offered continuously. Some demonstrations and programs will operate on a recurring schedule. All will be free! Guests may pick up an event guide and C.A.R.E. package when they arrive for Suffolk’s one-stop fun, health, and education fair, the 10th annual C.A.R.E Fair.

Sponsors for C.A.R.E. Fair include the Early Childhood Development Commission, Suffolk Health Department, Suffolk Parks and Recreation, Suffolk Public Schools, Suffolk Department of Social Services, and the Children’s Center.
