Robert Alexander Perry

Robert Alexander Perry, 81, of Suffolk died July 30, 2005. a native of Gates County, N.C., he retired as a machinist from Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church where he formerly served as chairman of security at the church.

He was the widower of Blanche Parker Perry.

He was a former president and member of the Suffolk Civitan’s Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran after serving during WWII. He was the son of the late, Jenny Clarine Smith Perry and William Gaston Perry. He was also predeceased by his brother, William Smith Perry.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Janice Rhea Perry Writtenberry and E. Glynn Writtenberry; granddaughter, Kate &uot;Katie&uot; Elizabeth Writtenberry; grandson, Robert &uot;Bobby&uot; William Writtenberry, all of Suffolk; sister, Emily Christian Perry of Gatesville, N.C.; former wife, Helen Vinson-Perry of Murfreesboro, N.C.

Friends may join the family today from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Janice and Glynn Writtenberry.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Holly Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Michael D. Halley will officiate.
