Piney Grove concert

The Spiritual Harmoneers of Tidewater will hold their reunion anniversary performance at 4 p.m. Aug. 14 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road. Admission is free.

Main Street to

honor youth leader

Main Street Methodist Church is honoring Karen Gunter, who is retiring as youth coordinator, with a pizza party at 5 p.m. Aug. 28 in the church fellowship hall. Cost is $2 for pizza. From 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., participants will go to the Praise Connection celebration in the sanctuary. An ice cream social will follow.

Balm of Gilead

to honor women

The church’s annual Women’s Day service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, with the Evangelist Angie Brinkley of Portsmouth speaking.

Eureka Baptist holding revival

Eureka Baptist, on Route 32 North in Corapeake, N.C., will be holding revival at 8 p.m. Aug. 7-10. The Rev. Dr. Charles Jones, pastor of Warwick Baptist Church in Chowan County, is guest speaker. Special music will be provided nightly.

A native of Alexandria, Jones was raised on Hatteras Island, N.C. He holds degrees of East Carolina University, Oral Roberts University and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. For information, call 252-465-8329.

Classes at Pleasant Union

Virginia University of Lynchburg will be holding registration for fall classes from Aug. 1-26 at Pleasant Union Baptist Church, 215 Webb St. Classes will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursday from Aug. 30-Dec. 15.

Programs offered include certificate in ministry, bachelor in religious studies, associates in arts and sciences and master of divinity.
