Go ‘noshing’ on the Nansemond

Nosh on the Nansemond is not just any party.

Not at all.

The community bash at Constant’s Wharf next month also kicks off the United Way of South Hampton Road’s 2005 fundraising campaign in Suffolk.

More than a dozen local restaurants will be setting up shop in the waterfront park from 4

to 8 p.m. Sept. 9, serving up specialties to hundreds of Suffolk residents.

&uot;It’s going to be a big party,&uot; said campaign chairman Win Winslow. &uot;And with all the proceeds benefiting United Way, it’s a great way to give back to the community. We’re hoping to make this an annual event.&uot;

The fundraiser, which will cap off the United Way’s Annual Day of Caring, is expected to generate more than $25,000, said Tywana German, executive director of United Way’s Suffolk office.

&uot;(The fundraiser) would definitely be an awesome contribution to the campaign,&uot; Winslow said.

Thus far, participating restaurants include Agora World Fusion Bar and Bistro, Art’s Kitchen, Baron’s Tavern, Constant’s Wharf Grill, Harbour View Grill, Kelly’s, Panevino’s Italian Caf\u00E9, Owen’s Catering, Pisces, Java 149 and Roy and Ricky’s Catering.

Tickets for the all-you-can-eat event are $20.

They can be purchase from at the city’s police headquarters, Farmers Bank, SuffolkFirst Bank, Gateway Bank, Harbour View Caf\u00E9, Bennett’s Creek Pharmacy, Java 149, the Suffolk News-Herald and the United Way Office.
