Brenda Mae Jackson

On Thursday evening, Aug. 18, 2005, Ms. Brenda Mae Jackson stepped out of time into eternal rest. Brenda was born Dec. 26, 1950 in Suffolk. She was the daughter of Rosa Kearney and devoted stepfather Columbus Kearney.

Brenda attended Suffolk Public Schools. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing; she was a nurse for many years at Portsmouth General Hospital.

She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life her son Marcus Perry, her mother Rosa Kearney, her stepfather Columbus Kearney, two sisters, Ellen Jackson and Sandra Brown (Alfonso), two brothers, William Jackson Jr. and Leroy Jackson, sister-in-law Deborah Jackson, godson Jeffrey Warren, adopted daughter Damita Robinson, a special friend Beverly Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005 at T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at 523 Chisholm Lane at all other times. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005 at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The funeral procession will depart from 523 Chisholm Lane at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005.
