Martha Ann Colanders

On Aug. 24, 2005, the Lord called one of his angels home to rest. Ms. Martha Ann Colanders, 86, of 715 Kilby Ave., was the daughter of the late Annie Pierce and Lonnie Holliman. She was predeceased by her husband, the late Elder John Colanders and her son, Mr. James (Rat) Hunter, Jr.

She was a native of Southampton County and retired from Planters for over 40 years. She was a lifelong member of the New Ivor Holiness Soul Saving Ministry Church where she served as the mother of the church.

She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Mrs. Cora Copeland (Bishop Clarence), Mrs. Rosa Copeland, Mrs. Letrail Wofford-Knight (Alvin), and Ms. Johnnelle Thurman; one brother-in-law, Bishop Obadiah Colanders; four sister-in-laws, Mrs. Margaret Colanders, Mrs. Marlena MaGee, Mrs. Bernadine Colanders, and Ms. Ernestine Colanders; a devoted cousin, Mrs. Mary Ricks, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mrs. Colanders will be on public view from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at Faith Temple Apostolic Church. A homecoming service will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at Faith Temple Apostolic Church by Bishop Clarence Copeland Sr. Interment will immediately follow at New Ivor Holliness Soul Saving Ministry Church Cemetery in Ivor.
