Dorothy L. Riddick, 83, of the 700 block of Willeyton Road in Gates, N.C., died Aug. 27, 2005 in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie. A native of Gates, she was the daughter of the late William Lonnie and Maggie Lenora Rountree and the widow of Vernon Herbert Riddick.

She is survived by three daughters, Maggie L. Eure, Shirley R. Batchelor (Connie J) and Dorothy R. Saunders (Anthony), all of Gates; one son, Vernon R. Riddick of Hampton; two sisters, Clarine Riddick of Portsmouth and Minnie Brown of Gates; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005 in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on White Marsh Road by Brother Solomon Darden. Interment will be held in Rountree Cemetery in Gates. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Crocker Funeral Home.
