A Chuckatuck man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds over the weekend is fighting for his life in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital this morning.

Lamont Cradle, 20, of the 200 block of Sparrow Road was airlifted to the Norfolk hospital shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department. A hospital spokesman said Cradle was in serious condition late Monday.

Police have charged Leon Roulac III, 23, of Edenton, N.C., with the shooting, she said.

Roulac – the ex-boyfriend of Cradle’s sister – was arrested late Saturday near the intersection of North Main Street and Constance Road, after leading authorities on a short vehicle chase through town.

Roulac is charged with one count each of aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, eluding police and reckless handling of a firearm, George said. He is being held in Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
