Editor, the News-Herald:

As predictable as death and taxes the skeptics, cafeteria Christians, pseudo Christians and other unbelievers are going to attack Pat Robertson anytime they have an opportunity.

Now comes his statement about doing away with the president (dictator) of another country. This dictator hates the United States and will do us harm when he can. The citizens of that country do not hate us but many will be killed when their leader causes a war with us by harboring terrorists and exporting them to kill our citizens.

Now these biblical experts are

saying that God said, in the Ten Commandments, that we shall not kill. That is true as far as it goes. This commandment is telling us

not to maliciously kill each other. It did not speak to our or God’s enemies.

God has commanded His people to kill His enemies many times. One of the best examples from the bible is the fate of the Amalekites. When Moses was leading God’s people out of Egypt they were ambushed by Amalek and his army inflicting great harm to God’s people. This was not forgotten. Over 200 years later God sent His prophet Samual to make Saul king over Israel. Before he would be made king over Israel God commanded him, through the prophet Samual, to go and kill

the Amalekites whose king was now Agag. God said to &uot;kill them utterly, men, women, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.&uot;

In short no living thing was to be spared. Saul slew the Amalekites but did not do all that God commanded and he was punished for it. This is only one example of God commanding that people be slain. I have no idea whether Pat Robertson is a contemporary prophet of God. I do think that God sends us warnings and commands through his messengers.

One of the biggest problems is that we do not listen to these messengers. Some do. Our Government is spending billions of dollars in an attempt to kill Osama bin Laden and his terrorists. There are special forces teams deployed for that sole purpose. Only the old veterans will remember that during WWII

we were warned about enemies within our borders that were called the Fifth Column. There are many Fifth Columns in our country now plotting to kill us and destroy our way of life. We should take any action possible to prevent that from happening. Remember &uot;Good guys finish last.&uot;
