Editor, the News-Herald:

Much has been printed about our president involving our country in the terrible, fatal, unwinnable war in the Far East. In my opinion, it is nothing more than a war to improve the economic situation here at home by keeping the war factory suppliers operating at peak capacity and the blood money just filters down.

It is just like the Vietnam War of the 1960s and 1970s, also a war of economics and also a war we knew ahead of time we could not win.

It is a disgrace that 58,000 American soldiers died in vain for our economy to prosper.

Will our president, Mr. Rumsfeld and Congress continue this present war until it bankrupts the U.S.A. and 58,000 more Americans pay the ultimate price in an unwinnable war? This about it. This great nation needs to return to the basics it was founded on as our Lord and Savior says.
