Minka coats HRA as Lady Saints win

Minka Foster slammed down 14 kills and Michelle Boucher had nine as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy rolled to a 25-10, 25-8, 25-12 victory over visiting Hampton Roads Academy Friday evening. Jade Bishop smacked five kills and three aces in the win.

Bishop’s first kill came on the game’s opening point, and Boucher’s opening spike gave the Lady Saints a 2-1 lead. Foster got NSA’s first ace to go ahead 6-3, and the teams rallied until Boucher knocked another kill to get the serve and an 8-5 lead.

Ellen Giermak whacked an ace and Foster got another kill as NSA’s advantage climbed to 12-6. Then Bishop took over, serving up eight consecutive points, two of which were aces to up the lead to an insurmountable 20-6.

Giermak started the second game by serving for three straight points, and Bishop knocked over two more. A kill by Foster gave the Lady Saints a 9-2 lead, and Kristin Nuckles handed out a pair of aces to go up, 14-5.

Foster served three more points, and two aces from Leigh Pfeil and kills by Boucher and Bishop ended the game.

Bishop served the first seven points of the last game, helped along by two more kills from Foster. HRA got as close as 11-6, but Bishop nailed two kills and Giermak an ace to get to 16-8.

Boucher served three more points, and Nuckles ended the match with her fourth ace, tied with Pfeil for the team lead.

The Lady Saints go to Walsingham Tuesday.
