Fraternal Order of Police Fish Fry

The Fraternal Order of Police, Suffolk Lodge #41, is having a fish fry Saturday, Sept. 17 from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Suffolk National Guard Armory on Godwin Boulevard.

The cost is $6 per meal, for either eat in or take out.

Pancake Breakfast

The Eastover Wilroy Ruritan Club is holding a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 6:30 a.m. until noon at the Eastover Wilroy Ruritan Club House, located behind Wilroy Baptist Church.

Tickets are $5.00 or you can pay at the door.

The breakfast is pancakes, linked sausage, apples and tea or coffee.

We will also have a sweet table with homemade fried pies, cookies, and brownies available for purchase.

AARP Meeting

Suffolk Department of Health events

The Suffolk Department of Health will be holding free blood pressure screenings later this month at three locations.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the main lobby of Chorey Park Apartments at 804 West Constance Road; on Wednesday, Sept. 21 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the lobby of Suffolk Towers at 181 North Main Street.

Also on Sept. 21, there will be free blood pressure and diabetes screening at the Suffolk Senior Center at 350 North Main Street from 10 a.m. until noon.

55 Alive

The Suffolk Chapter of the AARP will sponsor the 55 Alive driving class on September 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The class will be held at the Suffolk Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Broad and Constance.

Girl Scout Fest 2005

The Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department is having a fish fry on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Help Wanted

The Suffolk Literacy Council needs volunteers to tutor adults in basic reading skills.

The next workshop is Sept. 26 and 27, and Oct. 3 and 4 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. each evening.

There is a $10 fee for books and materials.
