King’s Kids anniversary tomorrow

King’s Kids of America, Inc. will be having their 16th Annual Anniversary at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Faith Temple on 476 Wellons St. in Suffolk. The speaker for the evening will be Lorraine Brinkley Skeeter, chairperson for Suffolk Public Schools.

This is the Annual Awards Program as well. Every child receives an award. There will also be free bikes and monetary drawings for the children and their parents.

Skeeter is a native of Suffolk and a graduate of East Suffolk High School.

Currently, Skeeter holds the position of Director for STOP Organization Vocational School in Norfolk and the Center for Employment Training in Suffolk.

Skeeter’s civic, education and community positions are numerous and longstanding.

She has served on the Suffolk School Board representing the Cypress Borough since 1993; and is presently a member of the Joint Committee Board of the P. D. Pruden Industrial and Technical Center.

Skeeter has received many awards, certificates and recognition.

Among them is the 1999 Prestigious Athena Woman of the Year, Norfolk State University Outstanding Alumni by the Suffolk Chapter of NSU Alumni, and East Suffolk Federation of Civic League Outstanding Citizen in Civic Activities.

She is a member of Mt. Ararat Christian United Church of Christ and serves in many capacities.
