One lane of North Main Street (Route 10 Business), between Applebee’s and Constant’s Wharf, will be closed most nights this week.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will be closing one road lane between 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly through Oct. 6 for paving, said Luefras Robinson, an agency spokeswoman.

The paving may interfere with the loop detectors which keep the traffic lights on a sensored-based timing system, she said. Motorists may experience slight delays.

&uot;If the weather holds up, all work should be complete by the end of this week,&uot; Robinson said.

&uot;The delays will be more of an annoyance than anything.&uot;
