Annie Mae Clemons Jones

Annie Mae Clemons Jones, 90, of 1222 Blythewood Lane, died Oct. 1, 2005 in Riverside Convalescent Home in Smithfield.

She was the widow of Clifton M. Jones. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Fannie Baker Clemons; a daughter, Hattie Jones; a sister, Hattie Fennell; and a brother, Lennard Clemons.

Mrs. Jones was educated in the public schools of Nansemond County and employed at the Nansemond Truck Packing Company (Butter Dish).

She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church and the second oldest member.

She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Miss Gladys Jones, Mrs. Annie D. Knight, Mrs. Irene Hall (Clinton) of Suffolk, and Mrs. Helen Brown of Portsmouth; and one son, Mr. Clifton D. Jones Sr. (Shirley) of Suffolk. She reared two grandchildren, Frank Jones (Marietta) and Mrs. Paricia Richardson (Ronald) of Suffolk.

She will be missed by one nephew, Mr. Bennie Jones Jr. (Marion) of Long Island, N.Y.; a devoted cousin, Jean Clemons; 33 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, 58 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 7 from at Crocker Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at noon Oct. 8 in Pleasant Union Baptist Church on Webb Street by Rev. V. T. Chambers. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will assemble at 11 a.m. Saturday at the residence for the procession to the church.
