The Suffolk Les Gemmes Inc. will meet in the home of Evelyn Wall, 1213 Blythewood Lane, at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7.

Concert and luncheon

Main Street United Methodist Church presents James E. Derr, organist, for a concert and luncheon at noon on Friday, Oct. 7 at noon.

The concert, lasting 30 minutes, is free and followed by a soup and sandwich luncheon in the fellowship hall.

Donations for lunch ($5 suggested) will benefit the Organ Fund.

Derr has been serving Trinity Episcopal Church in Portsmouth since 1985.

As an organist and conductor, he has appeared in concert throughout the U. S., Canada, and England.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Ivor Rescue Squad will hold a yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Ivor Rescue Squad building.

Suffolk Volunteer Fire Company Turkey Shoot

The Suffolk Volunteer Fire Co. Turkey Shoot will start Oct. 14 and run through Nov. 19 on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The location is on Route 460 behind Oliver’s Auto (3624 Pruden Boulevard).

Turkey-Ham Shoots

Bennetts Creek Ruritan will be holding Turkey-Ham Shoots every Saturday evening from Oct. 1 through Nov. 26.

The shoots will be at a new location, 5433 Shoulders Hill Road.

The benefits help the Driver Volunteer Fire Department, Boy Scout Troop 16 and the North Suffolk YMCA.

Pig Pickin’ for Hurricane Katrina donations

The Suffolk Pentecostal Holiness Church, 100 Kilby Shores Drive, is hosting a city wide &uot;All you can Eat Pig Pickin’&uot; on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 and free for children under five.
