Ethel Mae White

On Wednesday, October 12, 2005, Ethel Mae White was called home to be with the Lord. Ethel, affectingly known as &uot;Sissy Gal&uot; was born July 2, 1928 to the late John Savage and the late Queenie Moore Savage in Nansemond County.

She worked at Kraft (Planters) for many years before retiring. She was member of Sixth Street Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, William L. White.

Ethel leaves behind to cherish her memories three sons, William Hicks, Edward Daniels, and Samuel Savage; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Daniels, five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister Catherine Jordan (Willie), and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Ms. White will be on view for the public from 1 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16, 2005 at T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. A wake service will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The family will receive visitors all other times at 1913 East Washington Street. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 17, 2005 at Sixth Street Baptist Church.

Interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

The family will assemble for the procession to the church at noon.
