A Virginia Beach man died in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 664 near Pughsville, shortly before noon Sunday.

Joshua Shane Frank, 28, of Princess Anne Road, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, was killed after being thrown from the car, said Sgt. D.S. Carr, a spokesman for the Virginia State Police.

His passenger, Eric L. Cox, 26, of Portsmouth was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Carr said.

Frank veered off the right side of the road, causing the vehicle to overturn and strike a guard rail, Carr said. The vehicle came to rest on top of the driver.

Neither man was wearing seatbelts, he added.
