George Linwood Townsend Jr., 59, of Suffolk, went to join his wife, Barbara June Townsend, Oct. 17, 2005. He was born in Prince George County and was an employee of Lipton Tea Company. He was the son of the late George L. Sr. and Sadie Moore Townsend.

Surviving are a daughter, Michelle Tibbs of Suffolk; two sons, George L. Townsend III of Petersburg and David A. Townsend of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Sarah, Travis, Alexis, Cody and Kerrah; two sisters, Georgia Holman of Hopewell, and Anne Townsend of North Carolina; three brothers, James Townsend and Seth Perry Townsend, both of Hopewell, and Robert Tad Moore of Rocky Mount, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 19, 2005 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss &. Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
