On a night dominated by field-covering fog and the Indian River passing game, Lakeland registered another loss, 43-6, spoiling the Cavaliers’ Homecoming game (all four of Suffolk’s high schools lost their respective Homecoming games this season). Early in the half, the Braves scored first with a 53-yard touchdown run executed by Garrard Quigley. Shortly after, the IR defense stepped up, with Cory Ellick intercepting a Lakeland pass and running it downfield for another touchdown. The rest of the half unfolded in the same manner, ending with the Braves up 26-0.

The second half proved somewhat successful for the Cavaliers. After another Braves touchdown run, the Lakeland offense stepped up to answer. Capitalizing on a 37-yard catch by J. J. Cook, the Cavaliers stormed the end-zone. From five yards out, Dontae Myrick looked again to Cook. Making the catch just short of the goal line, Cook turned up the middle and broke through the IR line for the score. For the rest of the game, the Cavalier defense, led by freshman defensive back Dontarious Boone, kept the Braves to a single touchdown and field goal.
