Dan Miller ran for 131 yards and three touchdowns as King’s Fork rolled to a 34-6 victory over host Wilson Saturday. Shaka Miller threw for 85 yards and a touchdown, and the Fork defense held the Presidents to four fourth downs, all of which came in the second half, when the Bulldogs already held a comfortable lead.

Disaster nearly struck Fork on their first play, as Wilson recovered a fumble at the Bulldog 26. Fork got the ball back at the 27, and Shaka hit Kevin Pittman at the 35.

A clipping penalty pushed the Dogs back to the 31, but Shaka threw to Dan at the 43, and Vernon Jackson ran to midfield. Dan took a handoff through the right side of the line, broke into the clear in the middle, and burned all the way to the endzone.

The extra point failed, and Wilson tied the game less than a minute later. The Bulldogs started their next drive at their own 11, and Shaka threw to Pittman at the 16.

Dan ran to the 25, then made 18 yards in two plays to get to the 43. A roughing-the-passer penalty pushed the Dogs to the Wilson 44, and Dan and Jackson combined for 27 yards over the next four plays. Shaka passed to Pittman at the 11, and Jackson carried to the three before Dan scored. Shaka hit Jackson for the two-point conversion to go back up, 14-6.

The Bulldogs lost 13 yards on the first two plays of their next drive, forcing a punt. The kick was blocked, but it bounced off a President’s hand and Fork recovered to start over at its 25. Dan and Jackson rushed 26 yards to reach the Wilson 48.

Shaka faded toward the left sideline and threw a pass down to Pittman at the 20. Double-covered, the ball bounced twice off Pittman’s hands and brushed a defender’s. It landed in the arms of a streaking Donte Long, who bolted down the sideline for a touchdown. The extra point failed, but a safety gave the Bulldogs a 20-6 halftime lead.

Fork started the second half at their own 30, and Dan, Shaka, Jackson and Angelo Beale all carried on the next nine plays to get to the Wilson 10.

Dan then took a sweep around the right side and crossed the goal line for a 28-6 advantage.

The Dog defense held again, and started at the Wilson 36. Beale rushed 11 yards. Dan got to the 17, and Beale to the four. Jackson, who finished the day with 70 yards, charged up the middle for Fork’s final score.

The Bulldogs, still looking for their first-ever Southeastern District win, will visit Oscar Smith Friday.
