Cocaine found in child’s doll

JACKSON – A Conway woman was arrested on drug charges Thursday night.

Juwanda Arnette Barber, 20, of 306 East Fields Drive, Conway was arrested and charged with one count of possession with intent to manufacture, distribute and sell crack cocaine, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of maintaining a dwelling for selling controlled substances.

Barber is being held in the Northampton County jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

&uot;Barber is pregnant and had two small children living with her in the apartment,&uot; Captain George Reed of the Northampton County Sheriff’s drug task force unit said. &uot;Social Services was called to take care of the children.&uot;

Reed and Agent Lynette Clements performed surveillance on Barber’s residence following several complaints from neighbors and concerned citizens. Following the surveillance a warrant was issued and Barber was subsequently arrested.

&uot;She was hiding hits of crack cocaine in the child’s Mickey Mouse doll,&uot; Reed added.

Barber made her first court appearance Monday.
