A Veterans Day ceremony will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, on North Main Street, at 11 a.m. Friday.

U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., will be the keynote speaker at the event sponsored by the Suffolk VFW.

The Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery is not holding a special ceremony.

City office and the libraries will be closed on Friday, with normal operations resuming on Nov. 14, said Dennis Craff, communications director for the city.

The city’s three major parks n Lone Star Lakes, Bennetts Creek and Sleepy Hole n will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Craff said. No attendants will be on duty Friday.

The city’s public works department will not pick up trash on Friday.

Instead, they will run Friday’s routes on Saturday. Trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection.

Also, HRT will not operate on Friday, Craff said.

Normal operations will resume Monday.
