Rodney Hughes James

Rodney Hughes James, 63, of Midlothian went to be with the Lord November 10, 2005.

Born August 1, 1942, in Lawrenceville, Va., tha son of the late John Ausbon James and Gertrude Hughes James. Rodney grew up in Suffolk, Va., graduated from Suffolk High School, and was an- active member of the First Baptist Church.

He graduated from VPI & 2U, where he was a member of the -orpe of Cadets and German Club.

He served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea and at Walter Reed Hospital.

He was a retiree of Verizon Communications (formerly CtF Telephone).

Rodney was an active member of Son Air Baptist Church and member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Annas Jamee; a son, Michael Scott James; a daughter, Jill Kimberly James; and grandson, Robert Michael James, all of Richmond; a brother, Oliver Kent James, his wife, Meg and their children of Williamsburg,- two sisters, Barbara James Brumbeloe anci her husband, Ray of Marietta, Ga. , and Mart:ha James Thomag and her husband, Bill, of Norfolk; half brother, John A, JameH Jr. and hia wife, Gayle of Grass Valley, Ca,; hall: sister, Janet James Timberlake, her husband, John and their son of Harrisonburg, Va.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1025 Huguenot &d.

Memorial service will be held Monday, November 14, at 2 p.m. at Bon Air Baptist Church.

G:raveside services will be private.

Memoirial contributions may be made to the Music Program at Bon Air Baptist Church.

Cathy Darden Jackson

Cathy Darden Jackson “Kitty”, 47, of 301 Oak Street, Suffolk, entered into eternal rest and peace on November 10, 2005. She was preceded in death by her son, Sheron Demiel and her brother, Mr. William Larry Darden, Sr. She was a graduate of Fayettesville High School, Fayettesville, NC and Portsmouth Beauty Academy and served in the United states Army. She was a custodian at Southwestern Elementary School. She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church and the Senior Usher Board.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband, Mr. Roy Lee Jackson; a son, Melvin Larry Demiel and friend, Jamie Porter of Suffolk; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Edward Lundia of Suffolk; father, Mr. John Henry Steverson and Annie of Churchland; two stepsons, Tony Jackson and Roy Jackson, Jr., both of Laurinburg, NC; stepdaughters, Annette Clark (Donald) of Laurinburg, NC and Lilly Jackson of High Point, NC; sisters, Mary Darden-Rodgers and the Rob Rodgers, Ms. Diane Darden, Detria Hill and the Donald Hill, all of Suffolk, Christine D. Bemberry of New Jersey, Barbara J. Boone, of Suffolk; brothers, Albert Weaver, Jonathan Diggs, Johnnie Ward, and Denzil Steverson of Suffolk; three aunts, Mrs. Lottie Bazemore, Josephine Daughtrey (Isaac), and Rosa B. Smith; two uncles, Wilbur Lee Steverson (Sadie) and Lewis Steverson (Mary); goddaughter, Annissa B. Strothers; godson, Demonta Jackson; ten grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barbara J. Darden of Suffolk; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at Noon Tuesday, November 15, 2005 in Metropolitan Baptist church by the Rev. Dr. Robert Hobbs. Interment will be in the Albert G.
