There’s really no shame in finishing second, especially in youth sports, the results of which tend not to stick in the memories of coaches or participants for very long. But taking home the silver medal in their first two meets wasn’t good enough for the Suffolk Gators.

That why, on Saturday, the local pool squad headed to Franklin and brought back a win, defeating their hosts 1100-1000.

Kylie Potter and Ashley Petroski started off the meet for the Gators by taking the first two spots in the Girls 6U freestyle. Taylor Berard won the Girls 7-8 free, and Robby Arcand was second in the Boys 11-12 event. Detrice Bickham was second in the Girls 11-12 event, and Alex Petersen and Chalice Rowe got second in the 13-14 races. Antonio Petersen and Jenny Goodwin also got second in both 15-18 events.
