Cooking a turkey is elementary

The Suffolk News-Herald asked first graders at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy a couple Thanksgiving turkey questions.

These are the children’s responses in their own words.

We wish to say, “thank you” specifically to first grade teachers Kerry Lombardo and Anne Fowler as well as Tracie Thorndike in NSA’s development office, and of course, the first graders.

How do you cook a turkey?

First put it in a big pot.

Then put it in the oven.

Next eat it.

Caitlyn Hannah (Fowler)

1. You take the rapur off.

2. You clean the turkey.

3. You put basil one the turkey.

4. Thin you put solt and peper.

5. Thin you put it in the ovin on 20 for 13 min.

Allison Gottlieb (Lombardo)

First you put the turkey in the oven.

Cut it up.

Then eat.

Tanner (Fowler)

1. Take the wrapper off.

2. Take the guts out.

3. Put the turkey in the oven on 50 for 5 min.

Have a feast!

Deneigha Coriano (Lombardo)

You put in the oven then you cut it.

Then you eat it.

William Keyt (Fowler)

1. Take the wrapper off.

2. Wash the turkey.

3. Bake the turkey.

4. Cut the turkey up.

5. Poot stuff on it.

Halie McConnell (Lombardo)

First string the turkey’s arms together. Second put the turkey in the oven. Next cut the turkey.

Allie Wilburn (Fowler)

1. You cook it.

2. You stuf it.

3. And you eat it.

First you clean the turkey then you put the stuffing in the turkey next you put the turkey in the oven.

You need to clean it.

Then you need to poot it in the oven on 9,120 for 15 min.

1. Heat the oven to 450F

2. Cook the turkey for 45-50 min.

3. Take the turkey out of the oven.

James Mullin (Lombardo)

First you buy it.

Second you put in the oven.

Third you get it out of the oven.

Fourth you EAT IT!!!

2. Then you put it in the sink.

3. Then you put it in the oven.

4. Cook at 350
