JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Karl Samuel Copeland, 78, departed this life Wednesday morning Nov. 23, 2005 at Jersey City, N.J. Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Mark L. Gordon Copeland and Joseph Copeland of Holland Station of Suffolk.

He was predeceased by five sisters; Goldie Johnson, Maude Banks, Sarah Roberts, Naomi Holland and Mary Elizabeth Hoskie; and one brother, Raymond J. Copeland, Sr.

Those left to mourn his passing are wife Gloria Ramsey Copeland, Jersey City, N.J., two brothers; James E. Copeland, Sr., (Lula) and Enoch C. Copeland (Jean) of Suffolk; three sisters; Magdalene Banks, Como, N.C., Katie C. Knight (Johnnie) and Hilda C. Abram (Herbert) of Suffolk; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Laurel Hill United Church of Christ, 8001 South Quay Road, Suffolk, on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005 at 1 p.m. by Rev. Carl Sweatt D. Min. Pastor and the Rev. J. J. Ferguson, Pastor Emeritus of Laurel Hill.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will be taken from Peebles Funeral Home to the church at 11 a.m.

The family will assemble at 6125 Leafwood Road at noon to depart for the church.

Family and friends will be received at the home place, 6125 Leafwood Road Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
