Obici Wellness Center holding special classes in January
The Obici Wellness Center, located at the Suffolk Family YMCA, 2769 Godwin Boulevard, will offer two specialty classes in January.
A smoking cessation class will be offered beginning Monday, January 23rd. This is a six-week class taught by Ray Hartless, an ex-smoker and experienced smoking cessation instructor.
Ray has been teaching these classes for approximately 25 years and has taught them in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia.
The class will begin on Monday evening, January 23rd and continue each Monday evening through February 27th from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The class will be held at The Obici Wellness Center. The cost of the six-week class is $40.
The Obici Wellness Center will also offer a “Cooking For Weight Loss” program- a seven-week course that will combine a weight loss program with low calorie cooking demonstrations.
Karen Newton, R.D., will present the program and Obici Executive Chef, Mike Colvin, will conduct four low calorie-cooking demonstrations, which will incorporate guidelines discussed in the program.
Cooking for Weight Loss will follow the American Diabetes Association and the American Dietetic Association exchange list for weight loss.
The seven-week course will be offered on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. starting on January 12th and running through February 23rd.
The fee is $80 and pre-registration is required.
