Suffolk City Council will hold a special meeting with members of the Virginia General Assembly at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The Louise Obici Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will host a purse sale in the hospital’s classrooms, C and D, located on the garden level. The sale starts at 7 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. each day. The Suffolk News-Herald office will be closed from noon until 2 p.m. for the newspaper’s annual Christmas party. The office will be open as usual before and after.

Hall Place Community Association will be judging holiday decorations on home exteriors and doors in the neighborhood. Awards will be given for both.

Main Street United Methodist Church will have a live nativity at 3:30 p.m. and a candlelight musical reception with Santa at 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The church is at 202 North Main St.

Providence United Methodist Church, 3109 Providence Road, will present the Adult Choir Christmas Cantata, “One Small Child” at 7 p.m. followed by a reception.

A drive-through Christmas Panorama will be held at Wilroy Baptist Church, 306 Williams Road today through Dec. 21 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

It is presented annually to a group or individual working to fulfill the ideals of the slain civil rights leader.
