Styron ~ Daucher

Michael and Hope Styron of Suffolk, Virginia are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Hope Styron, to Carl Wesp Daucher, both of Wellington, New Zealand, where the couple met.

Elizabeth, granddaughter of Nancy B. Copeland and the late Carey Telford Copeland of Suffolk and of Leta G. Styron and the late Earl Styron of Beaufort NC, graduated with honors from Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in 1995.

She earned her BA cum laude at Duke University, her Master of Fine Arts at University of Virginia, and she was awarded a United States Fulbright Scholarship to New Zealand for 2001.

Elizabeth is the founding Director of the New Zealand Electronic Text Center at Victoria University of Wellington and Vice-President of the New Zealand Book Council.

Carl is the son of Donald and Lynn Daucher, California State Assemblywoman, of Orange County, California.

He is the grandson of Barbara McCracken and the late James McCracken of Bethesda, Maryland, and grandson of the late Elmer and Gertrude Daucher of Orange County, CA.

Carl earned his BA magna cum laude at Brown University, and went on to work for McKinsey & Co. in New York.

In 2002 he moved to New Zealand where he is currently Head of Finance and Strategy at New Zealand Exchange, the nation’s stock exchange.

A July 2006 wedding is planned in Charlottesville, Va..
