Larry D. Mason Sr. peacefully went home to be with the Lord Dec. 29, 2005 in Maryview Medical Center. He was born May 11, 1951, to the late William F. Mason Sr. and Della Beatrice Mason in Suffolk. He was also the stepson to the late Bertha E. Mason. He worked for Smithfield Packing and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of New Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Portsmouth.

He leaves t o cherish his memory and celebrate his life his loving wife of many years, Jacqueline Long Mason; four daughters, Gwendolyn Golden-Bond (Johnny), Jennifer Mason of Suffolk, Sabrina Mason and Spanyuara Mason of Portsmouth; two sons, Larry Mason Jr. and Curtis Mason of Portsmouth; three sisters, Joan Armstrong of Portsmouth, Jean Peoples (Roosevelt) of Chesapeake, and Diane Peoples of Suffolk; one brother William F. Mason Jr. (Georgia) of Franklin; one god-brother Tyrone Powell Evans of Portsmouth and 14 grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from noon to 5 p.m. today. A life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 4, 2006 in the chapel of J. T. Fisher Funeral Services located at 1080 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake, with Pastor Milton R. Blount officiating. The family will assemble at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home for the services.
