Alberta Savage

Alberta “Ada” Savage, 86, of the 100 block of North Main Street died Jan. 10, 2006 in George Washington Health & Rehabilitation Center in Chesapeake. A native of Nansemond County, she was daughter of the late Willie and Louise Bland Riddick and the widow of Joseph J. Savage.

She was retired from Pond Peanut Company after 12 years of service.

She is survived by seven daughters, Ethel Silver and Mary Ellen Savage of New York, Ernestine Johnson of New Jersey, Gloria Savage, Roberta Edmonds, Sandra Savage and Lisa Sweat (Kenny), all of Suffolk; four sons, James Savage of Suffolk, Vernon Savage of New Jersey, Curtis Savage of Suffolk, and Carl Savage (Alvonda) of Richmond; one sister, Mary Majette; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at noon Jan. 14, 2006 in New Mount Joy Food For Living Ministries by Bishop W. P. Wiggins. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. The family will assemble at Crocker Funeral Home at 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the church.
