Mary Ann Chapman

Mary Ann Chapman of the 3400 block of Jackson Road, Suffolk, died January 12, 2006 in Obici Memorial Hospital. She was born in Nansemond County (Suffolk) to the late Isaac Demiel Sr. and Anna Mary Turner Demiel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie W. Chapman; a son, Sammy Lee; a daughter, Jessie Mae; sisters, Margaret Woodley, Blanche Outland, Odessa McClenny and Rachel Gaynor; and brothers, Bennie Demiel and Isaac Demiel Jr.

She retired in 1990 from Felton/Cleanarama Cleaners after 33 years of service. She was a member of Antioch United Church of Christ and a member of the Senior Usher Board and Pastor’s Aide.

She is survived by one daughter, Adalene Vanessa Boykin (Lloyd) of Stafford; one son, Randolph Chapman (Sharon) of Suffolk; three sisters, Esther Knight, Elizabeth Hall, and Helen Williams; five grandchildren, Danielle Boykin, Chanelle Chapman, Latrice Chapman, Kevin Chapman, and Alecia Boykin; sisters-in-law, Gracie Demiel, Catherine Demiel, Ernestine Jenkins and Jessie Cross; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2006 in Antioch United Church of Christ by the Rev. Jarvis Jones. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 11:30 a.m. The family will be at 3458 Jackson Road. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
