Effie Russell, 92 of 4980 Holy Neck Road Suffolk, Va., died on Monday, January 16, 2006, at her residence.

A native of Nansemond County, she had lived in New York for a number of years before returning home. She was the daughter of the late James Robert Russell and Bessie Howell Russell.

She was a member of Laurel Hill United Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter Barbara J. Quildon, a grandson Joseph L. Quildon (Kimberly) of Efford Penn., one great-grandson Winston W. Quildon of Brooklyn, N.Y. One sister Lorraine Ranson of Cairo, Georgia; Three sisters-in-law Lillian Russell, Sally Russell, and Joyce Russell, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. J.J. Ferguson at Laurel Hill United Church of Christ. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon for viewing. Professional services entrusted to Peebles Funeral Home.
