Virginia B. Dickinson

Virginia Brooks Dickinson passed away peacefully at Lake Prince Woods on January 19, 2006.

Born September 26, 1920, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Grover Wilson and Edith Cunningham Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty nine years William Nelson Dickinson and her brother Robert M. Brooks

Mrs. Dickinson was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, the Obici Hospital Auxiliary and the Social Club and a former member of Cedar Point Country Club.

Survivors include her son William N. Dickinson, Jr. and wife Karen of Virginia Beach; daughter Karen D. Hughes and husband Glenn of Suffolk; grandchildren, William N. Dickinson, III and wife, Melissa, G. Leigh Hughes, Jr., Kathryn J. Dickinson, Matthew N. Hughes, J. Tyler Dickinson, Christopher E. Dickinson; great grandson, William Nelson Dickinson, IV; sister-in-law, Eleanor Gregory; nephews, Eric, Grover and Robert Brooks.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Robert J. Parks. The family will receive visitors in the funeral home following the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church Building Fund, 202 N. Main Street, Suffolk, VA, 23434 or a charity of choice.
