Alvin Tyrone Darden, Sr., 54, of the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue, Suffolk, died Jan. 30, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Suffolk and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He was retired Everetts Express Trucking Co. after 25 years of service. He had been employed with Pepsi Cola for 15 years prior to his employment with Everetts Express Trucking.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn M. Darden, mother, Barbara Odell Darden Hampton, and a daughter, Sharon Darden. He is survived by one daughters, Kartisa Darden Woodley (Darius) of Suffolk; two sons, Alvin Tyrone Darden, Jr. of Suffolk and Tony B. L. Darden (Jenny) of Brooklyn, NY; his father, Robert McDuffie of Detroit, Michigan; four sisters, Christine Darden Bembery (William) of Trenton, New Jersey, Cynthia Hampton, Princess Hampton, and Tonesha Hampton, all of Tampa, Florida; two brothers, Charlie Darden (Mary) of Baltimore, MD and Herman Hampton of Tampa, FL; eight grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mildred Hinton; three aunts, Alice Lundia, Lottie Bazemore, and Virginia Richardson; four sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 in Crocker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
