Bessie Viola Waters, 82, of the 3300 block of Waters Avenue, Suffolk, died Jan. 31, 2006 at her residence. She was born in Sunbury, N.C. and was the daughter of the late Charlie Edward and Cora Eason Beamon. She attended the T. S. Cooper School in Sunbury, NC.

She was a member of Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served on Usher Board and was a past president of the Usher Board and was a member and a past treasurer of the Missionary Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry Waters and a son, Roosevelt Waters. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Arline (Joe) of Suffolk; four sons, Henry Lee Waters (Yvonne), John C. Waters (Myra), Vernon Waters (Geraldine), and Robert E. Waters (Orris), all of Suffolk; one sister, Elsie Cross of Syracuse, N.Y.; three brothers, Samuel Beamon (Lucy) of Bronx, N.Y., Andrew C. Beamon of Suffolk, and Willie Beamon of Syracuse, N.Y.; a much loved and devoted granddaughter, Pamela Waters; daughter-in-law, Mary Waters; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 in Little Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Williams. Interment will be in the Waters Family Cemetery. The family will be at 3353 Waters Avenue, Suffolk.
