Ed’s Place on Pinner Street, formerly the site of The Dining Room, had a sneaky opening in the past couple weeks.

Two people here at the office said they’ve eaten there and were pleased.

Ed’s is operated by Ed Beardsley, who did the cooking at the popular, though now defunct, Art’s Kitchen on West Washington. Mickey Boyette and Charles Parr are also involved with the new venture.

One of the principals told me that since Ed’s Place opened, it has not served fewer than 300 people a day. That seemed like a lot to me, particularly when no promotion was done.

I need to get by some time, but I’m trying to shed a few or 15 pounds. I always ate too much at Art’s…

…We received a letter in the office Monday morning from someone who listed a New York address who was trying to dish up some dirt on some stuff that allegedly went on between a couple people at the Pilot Club’s Womanless Beauty Pageant Saturday night.

While we appreciate news tips of any kind, we are not interested in this type of thing n it’s just someone trying to stir up trouble.

While the newspaper is not interested in publishing this type of thing, if you absolutely have to share some dirt on people with someone, you can send it directly to me at andy.prutsok@suffolknewsherald.com. I jest, of course. I have neither the time, nor inclination, to get involved in peoples’ petty personal squabbles. I have enough troubles of my own to worry about, thank you.
