It was another big day in Suffolk for economic development Monday as the ribbon was cut on the 100,000-square-foot Joint Technology Exploration Center (JTEC) at Lakeview Technology Center.

JTEC is designed to leverage research, development, testing, evaluation and the demonstration initiatives to ensure that the latest technology supports the military’s current operations.

It further solidifies Suffolk’s and Hampton Roads’ position as a leader in the booming modeling and simulation industry.

There will no doubt be even more high-tech operations locating in the vicinity to support JTEC, bringing with them increased tax dollars and highly-educated, talented people who will become engaged in our community.

Suffolk would be well-served by stepping up its marketing of this unique niche it has carved out, one that holds so much potential for its future prosperity.
