U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) held

a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new USJFCOM Joint Technology Exploration Center (JTEC) in Suffolk Monday, The former FAG warehouse building in Lakeview Technology Park has been converted into 100,000 square-feet of high tech office and research space.

The center will leverage research, development, testing, evaluation and demonstration initiatives to ensure that the latest technology supports the military’s current operations and transformation initiatives. Activity to take place from the center will further enhance the command’s ongoing relationships with academia and industry, as well as the U.S. military.

“This entire building is marvelous,” said Maj. Gen. Jon Gallinetti, USMC, Commander, Joint Warfighting Center, surrounded by the latest high-tech equipment in the facility’s 8,000 square-foot training room. “It’s a technological marvel.”

Lt. Gen. John Wood, Deputy Commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command, touted the cooperation that brought the new facility and the entire modeling and simulation industry to Suffolk.

“It has been a local, regional and national effort and the impact has been seen worldwide,” Wood told several dozen invited guests. “Today you are standing at the hub of that development.”

The USJFCOM Joint Force Trainer Community’s Joint Advanced Training Technology Laboratory (JATTL) is the first JTEC tenant and focuses on developing trainer technology concepts.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony,

guests were treated to a tour of the facility and a reception following the ribbon cutting.
