Mother Martha Sarah Edwards was called to her final resting place Monday, April 17, 2006 at SentaraObici Hospital. Martha was born on Sept. 3, 1910 to the late Richmond Hill and Susan Williams in Southampton County.

A devoted and faithful member of Orlando Baptist Church, she served diligently on the choir, missionary, and usher board.

Martha entered into Holy Matrimony with the late John M. Edwards and to this union, three children were born.

Martha leaves behind to cherish her memory and celebrate her life three sons: John Edwards, Crenshaw “Richmond” Edwards (Christine), and Raymond “Ray” Edwards, 6 grandchildren, a host of great grand children, and many other family members and friends.

Ms. Edwards will be on public view noon- 8 p.m. and a wake service from 7-8 pm. Thursday, April 20 at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at 131 C Street Suffolk, at all other times.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 21 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, the Rev. Nathaniel Skates Sr. officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery.

The funeral procession will depart from C Street at noon Friday.
