Saints lax goes to 7-0

Bobby Flintoff and Kyle Jett scored four goals each to help Nansemond-Suffolk maintain their perfect lacrosse mark with a 17-6 victory over Steward School in Suffolk Tuesday afternoon.

Bennett Bynum (3 goals, 4 assists), Adam Nash (3 goals, 2 assists), Jett (4 assists), Daniel Parrish (1 goal, 1 assist), Matt Holloman (2 assists) Brock Van Selow (1 goal), Ashton Lewis (1 goal) and Carter Pearson (1 assist) made up the rest of the NSA scoring on the afternoon.

Holloman made 15 saves in goal.

The Saints (7-0, 3-0) travel to Charlottesville Saturday to face Covenant School and then go to Norfolk Tuesday to battle the only other remaining unbeaten school in TCIS play, Norfolk Academy.

Saints end soccer skid

NSA’s girls’ soccer team got their second victory of the season Tuesday, a 1-0 win at home against BEACH.

The Saints beat Western Branch, 3-2, on April 4 but had since lost five straight, including three matches at a tournament in Charlotte, N.C.

Mackenzie Westfall scored the goal for the Lady Saints, who lost to BEACH, 3-1, in the first week of the season.

The Lady Saints (2-9, 0-3) visit Norfolk Christian today for a 4:30 kickoff.

Stonebridge swept

Nansemond-Suffolk swept Stonebridge, 9-0, in a boys tennis match Tuesday.

Nine Saint tennis players saw action in the victory, the first 9-0 victory of the season for the Saints (3-7, 1-3).

Murphy’s 72 makes

her medalist

In Norfolk at Ocean View Golf Course, Nansemond-Suffolk’s Katie Murphy took medalist honors with a two-over par 72 but Norfolk Collegiate nipped the Saints by two strokes, 324-326.

NSA (4-3) teed it up yesterday at Elizabeth Manor against Portsmouth Christian and are on the links again this afternoon at Greenbrier C. C. against Greenbrier Christian.
