HAMPTON — Five feature races are planned for tomorrow, Aug. 5, as Langley Speedway continues its 2006 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series schedule.

The lineup includes: Crossroads Fuel Service/Sunoco Dealers Late Models (75 laps); NTELOS Wireless Super Streets (50 laps); Cook’s Moving Service INEX Legends (25 laps); BBFlabradors.com Wolf Trucks (20 laps); and, HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts (20 laps).

Gates open at 12 noon and practice gets under way at 1:30 p.m., while qualifying starts at 4. Pre-race activities begin at 6:30. The evening’s first feature race goes green at 7.

Tickets are $10 for adults ($8 for active-duty or retired military members with ID) and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans” (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Also, military members in uniform are admitted free. “Family Packs,” which include two adult and two children’s tickets, are $25 — a savings of $5. Skybox seats are $30 each. There is no charge for parking.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Late Model division will do for an encore to last week’s feature event, which produced 11 lead changes among three drivers. In response to driver concerns, a different variety of Goodyear tire was used for the race — one with a greater circumference that offered more setup options via a wider range of available stagger adjustments.

Dale Parro will resume his quest for his first checkered flag of the season in Saturday’s Super Street 50-lapper. After beginning the year with two third-place outings, he has reeled off four straight runner-up finishes. He ranks second in the division standings, only four points behind leader Tommy Sweeney.

Points leader Cameron Patrick will be shooting for his third straight victory in Saturday’s INEX Legends race.

Jill Brinson will be gunning for her sixth victory in as many races in this weekend’s Wolf Truck feature. She holds a 26-point lead over Brad Perron in the series standings, 250-224.

How dominant has Brinson been in the five Wolf Truck races to date? Consider this: So far this season, there have been 57 races that will count toward ‘06 division championships at Langley. The combined margin of victory for those 57 races is just under 71 seconds. By herself, Brinson accounts for more than 23 seconds (almost one-third) of that total.

Langley Speedway’s “Extreme Sports Wednesday” program continues on August 9. The lineup features “1-on-1 Drags,” “Time Attacks” (solo runs against the clock) and a “Burnout Competition.”
