LASKER – Ridgecroft School continues to push for a top seed in the Tarheel Independent Conference tournament.

The Lady Rams swept a pair of TIC contests Monday and Tuesday to run their season record to 12-3 overall and 8-2 inside the league.

Senior Kendra Godwin was the catalyst for Ridgecroft Tuesday afternoon, hitting good on 7-of-7 serving including two aces and added a kill while Sarah Tinkham was good on seven-of-eight serves with two aces.

Jo Revelle Murray continued her spectacular serving with five-of-six including two aces and added nine assists, one dig and two tips.

Victoria Brown had eight-of-10 serving with two aces and added four kills and a dig on the afternoon.

Those performances helped Ridgecroft earn a 25-23, 25-13 and 25-4 win over Northeast Academy.

“The girls began the match very poorly,” veteran coach Nancy Brittenham said. “Northeast played well the first game and made some outstanding plays. They have improved since our previous match with them.

“I was extremely pleased with Kendra and Sarah on the afternoon,” she added.

That win came one day after the Rams swept Pungo Christian Academy 25-10, 25-22 and 25-14.

Murray was six-of-seven serving and had one ace to go along with 10 assists, one dig and two tips.

Senior Lauren Lilley was also outstanding with 14-of-17 serving including five aces to go along with two kills and nine assists.

Whitney Liverman was a perfect 16-of-16 serving with a dig while Shirley Lee Spruill was also 100 percent on six-of-six serving. She added four kills.

Senior Keli Martin added five-of-six serving on the day with an ace, three kills and a dig while Victoria Brown had eight kills and a block from her middle hitter position.

The Rams are home Thursday afternoon for a key TIC matchup with Hobgood Academy.
