Mother Nature ruins prep football schedule

For once, the weatherman nailed down an accurate forecast.

The prediction for Friday afternoon and night was a 100 percent chance of rain. That forecast held true as the sky did open shortly past 12 noon on Friday and the wet stuff fell for the remainder of the day and night, thus washing out the public high school prep football schedule.

The First Flight at Hertford County contest scheduled for last night (Friday) has moved to 6 p.m. today (Saturday). The Bears and the Nighthawks will meet at Hertford County Stadium.

Meanwhile, Mother Nature forced Gates County High School to again postpone its annual Homecoming game. The Red Barons will now host Plymouth at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Northampton-East also got washed out Friday night. The Rams game at North Edgecombe has been moved to a 7 p.m. start on Monday.
