Ervin Jerome Clemons Sr., born on March 16, 1947 to his parents, the late Albert Clemons Sr. and Bertha Winborne Clemons of Harrellsville, N.C. He departed this life suddenly to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 30, 2006.

He was the devoted husband of Mildred Whack Clemons, loving father and grandfather, caring brother, dedicated friend, faithful deacon of the church, and fervent, consistent prayer warrior who has taken his reserved seat among that great cloud of witnesses watching the battle from the grandstands in heaven.

Those who will be most profoundly deprived of Ervin’s love include Mildred Whack Clemons, his wife of 37 years; one daughter, Rosalind Clemons; one son, Ervin Jerome Clemons Jr. (Andrea); five granddaughters and two grandsons, all of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Herman Clemons of Norfolk and Darnell Clemons of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, L. Louise Seivertson (Bill) of Suffolk, Ruth Gatling (Ronnie) of Suffolk, Jean Clemons of Suffolk; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith of Washington, D.C.; one brother-in-law, William Whack Jr. of Washington, D.C.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by one brother, Albert Clemons Jr. and one sister, Fannie Wynn.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 3, at the Wayland Baptist Church, 3200 Garrison Blvd., Baltimore, Md. The Rev. Hoffman F. Brown III, pastor, will officiate. The family hour will be from 6:30-7 p.m. A Celebration of Love will begin at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Union Baptist Church, 215 Webb Street, in Suffolk. Officiating ministers will be Pastor Vaurice T. Chambers and Co-Pastor Naomi P. Chambers.

Reynolds Funeral Home, Ahoskie, N.C., is in charge.
