Helen Lynch DuBois, 72, died Nov. 27, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

Born Jan. 3, 1934, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Catherine Stewart Lynch, of Baraboo, Wis.

Mrs. DuBois was a volunteer at Sentara Obici Hospital.

She was a past president of the United Ostomy Association, and was very involved in the Bethlehem Ruritan Club and the Eastern Star.

In the past few years of her life she took great pride in helping and teaching others by leading or participating in organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, and various caregivers’ support groups.

Survivors include her husband, Rtd. Cmd. Vern Allen DuBois; daughter, Kelly Barton of Eugene, Ore.; sons and daughter-in-law, Tom and Pam DuBois, of Suffolk, Larry DuBois of Eugene, Ore.; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Vandervest and husband Jim of Hastings, Minn., Charlotte Hoistad and husband Steve of Gastonia, N.C.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Lynch, of Ripley, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Dale DuBois and wife Sonia of Madison, Wis. She is also survived by her very close and special friend, Darrel Smith.

A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Oxford United Methodist Church by the Rev. John F. Shappell. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 604 Constance Woods Drive, Suffolk, Va., 23434 or The Auxiliary at Obici Hospital, P.O. Box 1100, Suffolk Va. 23439-1100.
