A great parade

We think we speak for hundreds of others in the city and the surrounding area when we say “What a great Christmas parade” in downtown Suffolk Saturday.

This event had a little bit of something for everybody — from police cars and fire trucks, to horses and other animals.

For about 90 minutes, those who lined Carolina Road and Main Street from Peanut Park to the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts were thrilled and enthralled by the festivities.

Something like this doesn’t come about all by itself. It takes many man and woman hours, a lot of planning and a lot more coordination. Somebody had to bring all of those people together and then get them organized.

Most of that credit goes to the folks at the Department of Parks and Recreation. But of course even they didn’t do it all by themselves.

We really don’t know who the others were who were involved in this extravaganza, but we thank them and congratulate them.
