Cheer Fund near halfway

With less than three weeks to go until Christmas, the Suffolk News-Herald Cheer Fund is fast approaching the halfway mark.

As of today, the fund has received $21,235 of its $45,000 goal.

The money, collected each year, goes to Toys-for-Tots.

The latest donations include:

$200 Robert and Judith Williams, in memory of Steven T. Williams

$50 Willie J. Boykin, in loving memory of Virginia H. Barnes, my dear friend

$300 Bennett’s Creek Nursery

$5, 000 John C. Holland Enterprises Inc., in memory of his parents, John C. and Marie S. Holland

$200 Eastover Wilroy Ruritan

$200 City of Suffolk employees

$1,000Ciba Specialty Chemicals

Total: $8,200
