The woman charged in the July 2005 shooting death of 14-year-old Diane Holland pleaded guilty to one count each of second-degree murder and malicious wounding earlier this week, said Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Will Jamerson.

Danielle Monique Davis, of Windsor, entered the guilty pleas as part of a plea agreement, Jamerson said. However, he would not disclose the terms of the agreement.

Davis originally entered not guilty pleas at her arraignment Aug. 17 to one count each of first-degree murder, malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, shooting from a motor vehicle and obstruction of justice, and three counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Davis was arrested July 28, 2006.

Had she not entered the guilty pleas, a jury trial would have started Thursday.

Davis could face a penalty of not less than five, nor more than 40 years for the second-degree murder charge. On the malicious wounding charge, she could receive not less than five, nor more than 20 years in prison.

On July 2, 2005, Diane Holland was shot and killed as she talked with a friend in the 300 block of Hunter Street. The friend, a 16-year-old boy, was injured in the incident.

Dolly Holland, who is not related to Diane, said she used to run a grocery store near where the girl was killed, and now lives across the street from the location.

&uot;She used to come into my little grocery store and buy chips,&uot; Holland said. &uot;She was a sweet little girl, she was real friendly and polite to me.

&uot;She came in just about every day. She would smile and make little jokes, she was a nice little girl.&uot;

Holland said it hurt her when she heard of Diane’s death.

&uot;I stayed awake for a couple nights,&uot; she said. &uot;It bothered me, you know, because she was so young. I hate very much that that happened.

&uot;I miss her already.&uot;

Attempts to reach a member of Diane Holland’s family for comment were unsuccessful.
